DIY Popsicle Stick Turkey Craft for Toddlers

Updated: Jul 29, 2025

Looking for a festive and hands-on Thanksgiving activity for your daycare or preschool classroom? This adorable popsicle stick turkey craft is the perfect blend of creativity, sensory play, and fine motor practice for little hands!

PIN FOR LATER!

Here are the materials you will need:

  • jumbo craft sticks

  • paint

  • glue

  • construction paper

  • your toddler’s hand!

Begin by lining up 7 jumbo popsicle sticks and gluing them onto a backing paper to hold them together.

Once dry, it's time to bring the turkey to life—literally!

You are going to paintbrush the child's hand with different fall-colored paints (like red, yellow, and orange). The center should be brown for the turkey's face. The fingers can be any other colors.

Then, they press their painted handprint directly onto the sticks. This step not only creates the "feathers" but also adds a sweet personal touch that parents love to see!

Once the handprint dries, use paint or markers to add the turkey’s body, beak, eyes, feet, and even a pilgrim hat for fun. Finish it off with a festive phrase like “Gobble Gobble” at the top, and you’ve got yourself a seasonal keepsake that’s fridge-worthy.

This project is great for encouraging color recognition, sensory exploration, and creativity. Plus, it makes for a perfect classroom decoration or take-home gift for parents.
