After reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar to the kids, you can have a fun activity for it to help make the book come alive.

Here are the materials you will need:
egg cartoon
red and green acrylic paint
paint brush
pipe cleaners
googly eyes
glue
sharpie or black marker

Instructions:
Cut a dozen empty egg carton in half. Each child will get a row of 6. You can also use an egg carton of 18 or 24. Simpy cut them into strips.
Turn the egg carton upside down and paint the first cup red. This will be the head.
Then color the rest of the container green.
Cut pipe cleaners in half. Make small holes to each cup and insert the red pipe cleaner in the red cup. This will create the antennas.
Add the green pipe cleaners to the green cups for the legs.
Paste the googly eyes to the front of the red cut and draw a mouth using sharpie or black marker.
And there you’ll have your own very hungry caterpillar!
